In 2008, Tennessee was among the USA's top states for participation, including #1 for most active partners, #1 in geographic distribution of events and partners and #1 in community/local government involvement. Tennessee celebrated Global Entrepreneurship Week 2008 with over thirty events that reached 1,000 entrepreneurs and business owners. From events that focused on developing youth’s interest and skills in entrepreneurial pursuits (think You Tube), to providing a venue for Tennessee’s leading scientists to pitch their innovations to venture capitalists, this Week demonstrated the depth and breadth of the entrepreneurial spirit in the Volunteer state.
For Global Entrepreneurship Week 2009 in Tennessee, over forty organizations from throughout the state have volunteered to plan activities that promote entrepreneurship and/or recognize local entrepreneurs and small business owners. The statewide entrepreneur video competition will be one of the statewide events celebrated during the Week.
